What Members Do For Us
The Gold Coast Potters Association’s entire operation is dependent on the goodwill of the management committee, sub-committees and volunteers who dedicate their time and effort in service of creating a safe creative space for our members, students and teachers.
There are numerous ways our members support the Association including:
Volunteer
Support our market days and working bees to upkeep the cleanliness and safety of our studios. You can also share your skills by taking up a committee and/or sub-committee role.
Contribute
Attend our quarterly general meetings, share your perspective and cast your vote to influence our future planning and decision making.
Participate
Complete our annual surveys and provide feedback that guide our operational improvement areas and priorities.
Promote
Help to increase the Associations profile by sharing our Facebook and Instagram posts with your personal networks.
Involve
Join our private Facebook members group to share pottery hacks, successes, learnings, reels, videos and other content that interests our mud mad community.
Key Holding Membership
Approved key-holding members are granted unsupervised access at both the Mudgeeraba and Benowa Studios outside of class times. Once approved, key-holders familiarise themselves with the Studio Access Policy which sets out the conditions, booking procedure and studio access limitations.
Key-holding member benefits:
- Access to studios outside of class times and scheduled workshops
- Use of all studio equipment (slab rollers, extruders, wheels)
- Use of three glazes – Clear, White and Turquoise
- Eligible for kiln hiring on completion of the accreditation and approval process
Mandatory conditions to becoming a key-holder:
- Over 18 years of age
- A member of the GCPA for a minimum of 6 months
- Attended a minimum of 2 Member General Meetings (held every 3 months)
- Completed the Safety Induction briefing
- Passed the WHS and Emergency Evacuation Assessment

Wheel hire service for members is $20 per week.
Our wheel hiring service is a unique offering to members only. This is an opportunity to practice and accelerate your skills as well as test whether investing in a wheel is for you.
