Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a member to join classes?

You do not have to be a member to join our pottery classes however, there are many benefits of membership including discounted prices for clay and firing your work. Please visit our ‘join’ page for more information on becoming a member.

Our classes are limited to a maximum number of spaces at our studios and typically fill each term. There are occasions where teachers allow casual attendees. For example, if a student is on holidays. Casual classes attract slightly higher fees. You can request to be on a casual waitlist with your preferred teacher and class time by contacting them directly – see our ‘classes’ page for the teachers contact form.

We do not refund payments if you change your mind however, this depends on the period of notice provided. Please review our cancellation and refund policy for details about the circumstances in which refunds apply.

The Association does not sell pottery supplies to the general public. Clay and materials are for students only.

We do not have a community firing service. We have 4 student kilns and 4 members kilns which are available to full members that have met the key holder and kiln accreditation requirements.

All student work is to be collected at the end of term. Teachers arrange a pick-up day during the school holidays for any work that might have been in the kilns at the end of term. Pieces that are not picked up prior to class commencing the following term, are usually thrown away as we do not have the space to store student work.

Full members pay an annual fee (pro rata to 30th June) which is renewed each year. There are many benefits to becoming a member. Please review our Join page for more details.

The minimum age requirement for our classes is 18. However, we do hold kids workshops during school holidays. This a kids and parents (or guardian) class and an adult must attend. We recommend you sign up for our newsletter so that you are notified when the next kids workshops are on.

Much depends on the severity of the special needs. As a general rule, space in the studio is limited so wheel chairs are difficult. We recommend contacting the teacher directly to discuss your circumstances and needs.

Our members utilise the studios outside of class times. Visit our ‘join’ page for information on how to become a member and the qualifying conditions for key holder access. Should you wish to plan an event, that is facilitated by one of our teachers, please contact us to explore what’s possible. Typically, this arrangement includes a studio booking fee, as well as a per person cost for the private class. The per person cost is dependent on participant numbers (up to 12 people).
